Jesus is a historical person, even referred to in secular history.  He was born in Bethlehem, Israel but lived in Nazareth in the north. Jesus is God the Son who became man supernaturally.  One of His names is Immanuel which means God with us.  He lived on earth as a man in order to bring us back into the right relationship with God.  He accomplished this by living in perfect obedience to God and by his death on a cross.  Death is God’s just penalty for our disregarding Him and making bad choices (sin).  Only Jesus can be our representative before God.
