The church is people from all over the world who have a restored relationship with God by faith in Jesus Christ.  It is important for believers (called Christians) to meet regularly.  It is important because the people come together to sing and pray to God, to read and study the Bible, to encourage each other, to hold each other accountable to the teachings of the Bible, to train some of the people to be teachers of the Bible, and to help each other in times of difficulty. God works through the church to accomplish his plans.
