God made everything.  Because he is Creator he has authority over everything which includes us.  God created us to be in community with Him.  God loves people.  God is like a good earthly father and mother who love, provide for and discipline their children.  God is both loving and just.  He delights in doing and giving good things for us but at the same time to no lesser degree He demands justice.
